We spent a couple of weeks in Malta which were busy with
work, getting the car serviced and preparing for the road / ferry trip to
Greece, and finding things we need for work on the boat in Greece etc.
The car proved to have some issues so it took 4 days to make
repairs and get a voluntary technical inspection before the long journey. The
car is good for the age, 21 years old, with low mileage. The cost hit a big
hole in the summer budget though.
We found time to relax and walking round Valletta we found
the recently re-opened market in Market Street which is now a wonderful centre
for eating out with many food outlets.
It was Easter while we were there so there were many
processions, and we managed to look into the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St.
John in Valletta which seems to have endless gold and riches, including the
priceless collection of Caravaggio paintings, so is probably worth more than
the Bank of Malta.
Easter parades were everywhere
It is common in Malta to buy fruit and vegetables from mobile sellers. Great strawberries locally grown at this time of year.
Marsaxlokk and traditional fishing boats
and Anita making summer crochet top..
Follow us to Italy and Greece soon
