We left León for warmer weather and headed north
to the coast. This was my first time in the lush green Asturias region. For the
first night we found parking near to the beach close to the Port of Cudillero. We were looking into the large and notorious Bay of Biscay which I have sailed across twice.
It was a pleasure to walk along the
boardwalk behind the dunes.
Next day we drove west through fantastic
scenery, taking the old winding road which was almost deserted. We saw
beautiful colour of sea in a bay and drove down to it. It is Playa Concha de
Cudillero.
Later we continued to the
picturesque port of Luarca.
We parked overlooking the sea.
Campers are not welcome there so after a walk we
continued to Navia and spent the night in a service area for autocaravans with
about 40 Spanish vehicles, a rare sight. We found it the be a meeting of the
Club Autocaravanista Principado de Asturias.
It was conveniently next to a large
supermarket, with toilets and café too.
Next morning we continued west,
crossing the Rio Eo into Galicia, and the town of Ribadeo. Asturias is
wonderful and worth a longer visit.
